Answer

In Analyst® software, creating a simulated hardware profile allows a user to create acquisition methods and batches when using the software on a processing PC that is not connected to an instrument. To create a simulated hardware profile, open the Hardware Configuration Editor and select a hardware profile that you would like to simulate. Then select Edit Profile.

  • Under Devices in current profile, choose Mass Spectrometer
  • Click Setup Device
  • Click the Communication Tab
  • Click Advanced
  • Select Simulation Mode
  • Click More
  • Click Browse under API Firmware
  • Find your Mass Spectrometer
  • Click Open, then OK, OK, OK

Return to the Hardware Profile Editor screen and find the Devices in current profile. Then select Integrated System Shimadzu LC Controller.
  • Click Setup Device
  • Click Advanced
  • Select Simulation Mode
  • Click More and choose the correct autosampler rack type
  • Click OK, OK, OK
The selected hardware profile is now set to simulation mode.
