Answer

General remark: Always make sure the Selexion™ is at ambient temperature and not hot!

We advise different levels of cleaning the Selexion™ cell and electrodes:

  1. Regular rinsing
If you take the DMS off the shelf always clean it with MeOH/water (50/50). Flush 20-40 ml between the electrodes. Give it enough time to dry before reinstalling it. This rinsing can also be done once per week if the Selexion™ is in regular use.

  1. Routine Cleaning
Perform this cleaning procedure If acquisition stops regularly, you observe a noisy baseline or sensitivity is not sufficient anymore.

Remove the electrodes by removing the screws.

Rinse the Electrodes with MeOH / H2O or use an ultrasonic bath, wipe clean and dry with Kim Wipes.
If required clean the DMS Cell Holder using the same method.
This cleaning should be enough for removing particulate build up.

  1. Intensive Cleaning (Sandpaper Method)
Perform this cleaning procedure if the routine cleaning is not successfully removing particulate build up or performance is not improving.

Place a 600 or 800 Grit sandpaper on a sturdy flat surface. Apply strong pressure and slide the electrode along the sandpaper (with the grain, on the long side) back and forth about 10 times or more
