Answer

Within the data sub-project within a project folder in Analyst® or SCIEX OS Software, there can be a multitude of file types associated with one set of raw data. They are listed here:

1) .timeseries - This file type stores the LC pressure trace and is acquired by both Analyst and SCIEX OS software.
2) .timeseries-journal - This file is a temporary file for LC pressure trace data; it is paired with a .timeseries data file.
3) .wiff2 - This file stores the meta data for the mass spectrometer; the meta data is in .wiff2 format, which is only acquired and read in SCIEX OS software.
4) .wiff - This file stores the meta data for the mass spectrometer; this meta data is in .wiff format, which is acquired and read in both SCIEX OS and Analyst software.
5) .wiff.scan - This file stores the actual x y scan data for the mass spectrometer and is always paired with a .wiff or .wiff2 file; this data file is acquired and read in both SCIEX OS and Analyst software.

Below is a table describing each file type that is acquired and saved to the data sub-folder in a project.
