Error when adding MS/MS spectra to a library within SCIEX OS software

Issue Description

To add a new MS/MS spectrum to an existing compound library in SCIEX OS software, users must right click within a MS/MS spectra that is viewed during Peak Review in the Analytics module. The Add spectrum to library option appears, and once selected, a new window appears - Add spectrum to library - with drop down menus for selecting the library of interest. The spectrum is added to the compound library after selecting OK.

However, sometimes an error appears: 

System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1
[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail] : Object
reference not set to an instance of an object.

and the spectra is not added successfully to the compound record in the library, even though this issue is not seen with other compounds from the same results table.

Resolution

This error occurs because the compound name contains an apostrophe. Users will need to modify the processing method, and remove the apostrophe from the compound name in the components tab. Once the apostrophe is removed, the selected MS/MS spectrum can be successfully associated with the compound in the library.
